GST-Compliant Invoicing: How to Set Automated Tax Calculations in BowERP

Most Indian distributors we meet are still generating invoices from spreadsheet templates that were built for a single state, a single tax slab, and a single warehouse. The moment a business starts shipping across state lines, that model breaks — someone has to manually check which GST rate applies, whether IGST or CGST/SGST is due, and whether the HSN code on the line item is even current.

BowERP resolves this at the schema level rather than the invoice level. Every SKU carries its HSN/SAC code and applicable tax bracket as a property of the item master, not the invoice. When a sales order is raised from any warehouse, BowERP looks up the buyer's registered state, cross-references it against the shipping origin, and automatically selects the correct tax treatment before the invoice is drafted.

For manufacturers running multi-state operations, this removes an entire category of month-end reconciliation work. Our Rajkot and Ludhiana clients no longer employ a dedicated staff member to audit outgoing invoices for tax correctness — the system enforces it at creation time, and every invoice is exportable directly into GSTR-1 filing formats.

The rollout itself is straightforward: during the remote Process Mapping Audit, our architects import your existing item master, tag each SKU with its correct HSN code, and configure your registered GST states. Most clients are generating fully compliant multi-state invoices within the first week of BowERP going live.
